The NFL has announced it’s preseason schedule this afternoon. The Redskins will not get a nationally televised preseason game this year.

Many of the exact dates have not been released yet but the Redskins start the season at home against the Buffalo Bills. Week 2 the Skins will be home against Baltimore. The final two weeks of preseason, Washington goes on the road, against the New York Jets and finally in week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Jared Gaither

Jason LaCanfora reported on NFLTV’s Total Access that the Washington Redskins would make a play to acquired OT Jared Gaither from the Baltimore Ravens. Gaither might have fallen out of favor with the Ravens management about his participation in offseason workouts.

Gaither claims that he was planning on attending but needed to finish rehabbing his injured ankle first. Ravens coach Harbaugh must see things differently.

The addition of Gaither would bolster the Redskins offensive line, a position which is needing to be bolstered. But, if the Redskins were to make a play for Sam Bradford at #1 overall, the Skins might need to retain that pick to package in a deal to acquire Bradford.

If Bradford goes to the Rams and the Redskins fail to trade for Gaither, look for them to draft OT Russell Okung at #4.

Sam Bradford anyone?

Oklahoma held it’s much anticipated Pro Day on Monday. Headlining the workouts was QB Sam Bradford. Bradford might have all but cemented his #1 overall selection status in the upcoming draft. Some scouts said it was the best pro day quarterback workout since Troy Aikman.

Of course Aikman’s name doesn’t resonate very well with Redskin fans, but you get the comparison.

Something very interesting is being reported though. Reports have surfaced that Bradford may not want to sign a predraft contract. Now the last player who failed to sign, was JaMarcus Russell. Perhaps Bradford is just playing the Rams to increase the value of his contract or maybe he doesn’t want to play in St. Louis.

If the later is the case, should Washington move up and take Bradford #1 overall? I would think so.

CB Buchanon signed

The Redskins announced that CB Phillip Buchanon has been signed to a one year deal. 1.5 million and 750,000.00 in incentives.

Buchanon has bounced around the league. The University of Miami product, 29, has played for the Raiders, Texans, Buccaneers, Lions and now the Redskins.

This signing is nothing more than depth in the secondary as the Redskins head into 2010. Buchanon appeared ready to become a talent in the NFL coming out of Miami with a 6’2″ frame but never lived up to the first round draft selection he was in 2002.

Okay, I’ve got some kinks worked out here on the page so sorry for the delay in posting. The Washington Redskins have agreed to terms with free agent P Josh Bidwell. Bidwell was the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter but missed last season with a hip injury. The move to release Bidwell leaves Tampa without a punter, and as weak as their offense was last season, they will need to find a good one.

Bidwell, 34, is a cancer survivor and has a 42.8 career average. He has made 1 trip to the Pro Bowl, 2005.
