More questions surround Haynesworth

There seems to be some conflicting reports now about whether or not Washington Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth did in fact pass his physical conditioning pass.

According to Jay Glazer, Haynesworth failed. Glazer reports that Haynesworth passed the first part of his test, but failed the second part, walking through drills. Glazer reports that if he did indeed fail, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan now has to decide whether or not Hyanesworth will be allowed to practice with his team mates, and in fact, Shanahan could hold him out of practice indefinitely.

Washington Post beat writer, Jason Reid reported via Twitter, “Hearing that Albert Haynesworth “killed it” during his conditioning test, according to one source. Still waiting on official word”.

So, controversy continues to surround the disgruntled defensive tackle. I’ve said all off season that I seriously doubt that Haynesworth will be on the Redskins roster when the season starts in September. So much for Haynesworth’s statement earlier in the month from him and his trainer that Hyanesworth would open some eyes coming training camp. It seems as if the only eyes he’s opening are the ones who actually thought he’d arrive in camp in shape.

McNabb not worried about contract for now

Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb has one year remaining on his contract. However, McNabb doesn’t seem too concerned about the lack of a long term deal from the Redskins organization. McNabb has stated, “That will happen, maybe sooner than later, but the thing about it is at this point I truly don’t focus on it”.

McNabb isn’t the only big name quarterback playing in the final season of his contract. He joins Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as veterans in the final year. I have no doubt that the Redskins will get around to offering McNabb a new long term deal, most likely after the end of the season before his contract expires.

Also complicating matters is expiring collective bargaining agreement. Several teams have been reluctant to offer up long term deals to players with the uncertainty surrounding football in 2011. It will be imperative for the Redskins to lock up McNabb for the duration of his career.

Washington Redskins QB brings star power to booth

Is Joe Theismann going to be the announcer for NBC Notre Dame game this season? I certainly hope so and he’ll move away from having anything to do with professional football. Theismann is as annoying as Tim McCarver talking during baseball games. It seems that NBC is looking for a dedicated announcer for Notre Dame games this coming season.

The article in USA today reminded me of how Theismann changed the pronunciation of his last name to rhyme with Heisman, as in the trophy.  Yes, he was a Redskin player, but he is so damn annoying as an announcer. I strongly support moving him over to NBC, announcing Notre Dame games on NBC. Leave the NFL alone. Period. He is a horrible announcer, stating how everything he did was the best and no one can come close. How’s that leg working out for you Joe? Please, leave anything having to do with the NFL, head over and cover Notre Dame, and all of us NFL fans will be better off.
